About the Nominating Process
Members of 100+ Women Who Care-Chittenden County may nominate one nonprofit organization serving Chittenden County each quarter.
There is no limit on the number of nominations an organization can receive. In other words, different members can nominate the same organization in any quarter.
Nominations close a week before each quarterly meeting, and each is assigned a number. Steering committee members then gather and randomly choose three finalists via the online tool pickerwheel.com.
We invite representatives of the selected organizations to present to our membership at the next quarterly meeting, after which members in attendance vote for the primary recipient of that quarter’s $10,000 donation. The other two finalists share our remaining funds for that quarter.
We have 190+/- contributing members at any given time, enabling us to donate $10,000 to the primary recipient and up to $4,500+/- to each of the other finalists. The primary recipient also stands to receive another $5,000 thanks to a 50% matching grant from the Schulze Family Foundation.
Nominate a Nonprofit
You must be a member of 100 Women Who Care-Chittenden County to nominate a nonprofit each quarter.
The organization you’re nominating must meet all of these criteria:
It must be recognized by the IRS as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.
It must serve residents of Chittenden County and be able to designate 100% of any donation from us to serve Chittenden County residents;
It must have been in operation for at least three years as of the date of the quarterly meeting for which they are being nominated;
If it previously has received a gift from us, it must be eligible for re-nomination (see here).
It cannot be a school, booster club, political party, fraternal group, or religious organization. (Churches, synagogues, and mosques are not eligible.)
