About Nonprofit Eligibility Dates

We are committed to supporting organizations that do good work and serve diverse populations in our region. As a result, we have a waiting period before a nonprofit can be nominated again if it has received a gift from us in the past five to six years.

Organizations voted as the primary recipient (typically having received $10,000 from 100+ Women Who Care-Chittenden County in the past) may not be nominated again for six years. There is a five-year waiting period for the other finalists, who typically receive $4,000 each.

All nominees must be recognized by the IRS as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization or have a valid 501(c)3 funding partner and must serve residents of Chittenden County, Vermont. In addition, they must have been in operation for at least three years as of the date of the nomination. Schools, booster clubs, political parties, and fraternal and religious organizations (e.g., churches, synagogues and mosques are not eligible).
